Create a Dashboard

Follow this guide to build your first dashboard combining multiple reports into one view.

Before You Begin

Dashboards display reports you've already created. Make sure you have at least one report before starting.

  • Need to create a report? See Create a Report
  • You can add reports from any data source to the same dashboard
1

Navigate to Dashboards

From the main navigation, click Dashboards in the left sidebar, then click + New Dashboard.

2

Name Your Dashboard

Enter a descriptive name. Good names reflect the purpose or audience:

  • Monthly Sales Overview
  • Executive Summary - Q4 2024
  • Marketing Campaign Performance
  • Operations Daily Monitor
3

Add Your First Widget

The dashboard editor opens with an empty canvas. Click + Add Widget to add your first element.

4

Select a Report

After selecting a widget type that uses a report, you'll see a list of your reports. Click to select one.

  • Use the search box to find reports by name
  • Preview shows the report's chart/table
  • Click Add to place it on the dashboard
5

Arrange and Resize

Position widgets on the grid:

  • Move — Click and drag the widget header
  • Resize — Drag the corners or edges
  • Snap to grid — Widgets align automatically
  • Overlap — Not allowed; widgets push others aside

Tip: Start with a rough layout, then fine-tune. Place KPIs at the top, detailed charts below, and tables at the bottom.

6

Add More Widgets

Repeat steps 3-5 to add additional widgets. A good dashboard typically includes:

  • 2-4 KPI cards at the top for key metrics
  • 2-3 charts showing trends or comparisons
  • 1-2 tables for detailed drill-down
  • Text headings to organize sections
7

Add Global Filters (Optional)

Global filters let viewers filter all widgets at once. For example, a date filter that limits every chart and table to a specific time period.

  1. Click + Add Filter in the filter bar area
  2. Select a field (e.g., Date, Region, Category)
  3. Choose filter type (dropdown, date range, search)
  4. Configure which widgets the filter applies to

Date Range Filter

Calendar picker for start/end dates

Dropdown Filter

Select one or multiple values

Search Filter

Slider Filter

8

Configure Auto-Refresh (Pro)

For dashboards that monitor live data, enable auto-refresh:

  1. Click the ⚙️ Settings icon in the dashboard toolbar
  2. Enable Auto-Refresh
  3. Select refresh interval: 1, 5, 15, 30, 60 minutes
  4. Save settings

Note: Auto-refresh is available on Pro and Business plans only.

9

Save and Preview

Dashboards auto-save as you work. Use these options:

  • Preview mode — Click the 👁️ icon to see viewer experience
  • Edit mode — Return to editing by clicking Edit
  • Full screen — F11 or the expand icon for presentations

Layout Best Practices

Top → Bottom Priority

Put the most important metrics at the top. Users read dashboards like web pages.

Left → Right Flow

Summary on left, details on right. Big picture first, then drill-down.

Visual Balance

Mix widget sizes. Don't make everything the same dimensions.

White Space

Don't overcrowd. Leave padding between widgets for readability.
